My name is Mike Brunton...

I have lived my entire life Topeka, a graduate of Washburn  Rural high school in 1966, served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, graduated from Washburn University in 1976 and from Washburn University School of Law in 1981.

Since graduation from Law School I have been a sole practitioner.I have practiced exclusively in Bankruptcy Court since 1996, filing in excess of 5500 consumer bankruptcies and currently have one of the largest bankruptcy practices in Kansas. In the course of my practice I have never lost sight of the fact that my clients are human beings who deserve respect. the fact that they have fallen on financial hard times is generally due to factors outside their control.  It is my job to ensure that my clients regain control of their finances. I approach each case with the notion that "nothing is broken that cannot be fixed" and I try my very best to realize that goal.

Approximately 60% of the new cases I file are referrals or re-filings. I am very proud of the fact that my clients have referred their friends and family to me, and have returned to me when they had had been in need of further bankruptcy representation. I am also very proud of the fact that I have filed several cases, that have changed the interpretation of existing bankruptcy law, to the benefit of my clients and other debtors as well. I have personally trained my staff and I expect them to provide the same level of service that I do.

Office Staff

Erin Pennington
Office Manager / Case Manager

Erin is in charge of the daily operations of the office. She supervises case managers has been with Brunton Law for 16 years, and has managed over 3000 cases.

Elizabeth McKinley
Case Manager

Elizabeth is a case manager, and is responsible for the clerical maintenance of her assigned clients' files. She is also available as a contact person for those clients.

Peter Goetz
Case Manager

Like Elizabeth, Pete is a case manager responsible for the maintenance of client files, and serves as a contact person for his assigned clients. Pete is a senior at Goddard College in Vermont and intends to start law school in 2010.

Jaylene Lynn
Receptionist

Jaylene is our receptionist She assists in preparing pleadings, entering data, and helps with other clerical functions that our office requres.
